Good Morning from Asheville,
I want to start by deeply appreciating everyone who has reached out through calls, texts, emails, and messages in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Your support and concern have been a source of strength for me and the entire community as we begin the long road to recovery. It’s hard to believe we are about a month out of the storm. The past few weeks have been eye opening, inspiring, and humbling.
Our community is just in the early stages of navigating this post-storm reality, and while there’s still much to be done, we are heartened by the overwhelming kindness we’ve seen. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, or if you want to lend a hand in recovery efforts, please contact me immediately. (828-412-0678). We have teams reaching out across Western North Carolina, addressing unique needs as they arise.
Thank you for standing with us during this challenging time. We are alive, healthy, and grateful that the damage, while significant, is manageable for many. However, there are countless others who have lost everything.
The Road to Recovery in Asheville
The resilience of Asheville and the surrounding Western North Carolina region is incredible, and it’s this strength that will see us through. Although full restoration will take time, progress is being made daily:
•Power: Steady progress is being made in restoring power throughout the area. Most of Asheville has power restored as of 10/24/24.
•Cell Service: Connectivity is improving, allowing better communication.
•Water: Some areas still face challenges, but local agencies are working hard to restore full services. Asheville is still under a boil water notice.
One of the most inspiring things to witness has been the way the community has pulled together. Mountain people have a special way of bouncing back from hardship, and this storm has been no different.
Addressing Concerns About Future Storms
Many of my clients have told me that this storm has given them pause about their plans to move to the Area. I just want to say that I completely understand any hesitation you may feel about the future after an event like Hurricane Helene. It’s something we are all thinking about. Fortunately, storms of this magnitude are rare. The communities most affected by flooding were those adjacent to the river flowing through Asheville.
It’s important to note that Asheville has seen events like this before, and we continue to grow and thrive as a community despite occasional setbacks. There’s a lot to love about living in the mountains—our unique ability to come together in times of need is just one example.
Real Estate in Asheville: Stability Amidst Uncertainty
Despite the challenges brought on by Helene, Asheville’s real estate market remains resilient. While there was about a week and a half of no sales due to the Registry of Deeds being temporarily closed, things are already picking back up. Many homes and neighborhoods were untouched, and properties continue to move.
In fact, even amidst the storm recovery, Asheville just recorded the highest sale ever in the Carolina Matrix MLS, which includes Charlotte, with a property closing at a stunning $14 million. This shows that, even during uncertain times, people are still drawn to the beauty, strength, and promise of Asheville.
Together, We Rebuild
While recovery won’t happen overnight, we are well on our way, thanks to the strength and resilience of our community. If you have any concerns or questions about Asheville in the wake of Hurricane Helene, feel free to reach out. Whether you’re looking for ways to help or have questions about the real estate market, I’m here to support you.
Thank you once again for your kindness and support. Together, we will rebuild and come out stronger than ever.
If you have questions, or want to talk about the market, feel free to give me a call.
